At home with God

The portrait of the perfect wife is an image of a person who is ‘at home’ with herself in the world. Two of the servants in the Gospel show the same comfort. The other is so afraid of his master that he is not aware of his own capacity for love and service. Knowing my place before God requires my deep acknowledgement or awe of God’s utter goodness. I must match this with an emboldened generosity of spirit which is unafraid to carry out the tasks that God chooses for me. Being ‘at home’ with myself is really just being ‘at home’ with God and his creation. Am I on the way to achieving that?
