Joy to the world

If I live a life of love, it is love which helps me to search for the truth about life. This is not an easy life. Yet this is the command of love for disciples. Love which searches, not for truth, but for personal pleasure at the expense of another is an easier sort of love, which is also part of a disciple’s life. As a disciple, I must work hard to ‘lose’ this easy love in favour of true love. Love which at times manages to find the truth about life, even in a brief moment, is often manifest in disciples as the gift of joy. The joy of being human before God mostly takes me by surprise.
