Philippians 2:12-18; Psalm 27; Luke 14:25-33

St. Charles Borromeo (M)

The personal cost of following Jesus Christ is high. We know this. We inherit this knowledge of the ages at our baptism. The heartfelt cost is something to be discovered throughout a lifetime of relationship with Jesus Christ, who draws us along, always demanding more than we think we can possible give. It is always a battle to keep one’s peace of mind in discipleship. What am I willing to give? What do I know the Gospel demands of me? Prayer is a very good way of working through both these expectations with God.
