Going to Jerusalem

Jesus continues to lay his cards on the table. What will happen to him will happen to his disciples. Discipleship will mean “following after him” on the journey he has just described. Jesus will undergo suffering, be killed and be raised. Being followers of Jesus will mean “losing their life”. This means a denial of self (the false self) which involves refusing to be self-centred and competitive. It is not about a loss of joy and real fulfilment in life. It is about finding the true self by living in communion with Jesus through ongoing prayer and discernment.
