The in-between time

We do not know when God will come in what is called the last judgement. We know from this Gospel that the God who will come sent Jesus, Emmanuel-God-with-us. God will come lovingly. Our two parables of waiting remind us that we are to stay awake, to be vigilant and ready. For all we do not know about that final coming of God, we do know what we are supposed to be doing until that time comes – the works of mercy, justice, forgiveness and peace that are the lot of the followers of Jesus and his basileia.
