2 Thessalonians 3:6-10, 16-18; Psalm 128; Matthew 23:27-32
Grace of self-awareness
These two woes are not about just back there and not applying to us. We can look good on the outside but inside harbour evil-doing. Jesus, too, refers not only to his own rejection and death but the coming rejection and persecution of his disciples. These words of Jesus can lead us to reflect on our own lives and to pray for the grace of self-awareness and gentle self-knowledge. We need the graces God desires to give us. What grace do I need?
