God’s alternative household

God’s alternative household challenges the disciples’ understanding of their religious tradition. Wealth was regarded as a sign of God’s blessing yet the Scriptures also have dire warning about riches. Jesus offers the rich person liberation from an identity and life enslaved to wealth. Repentance and redistribution are needed. Transformation happens by trusting God. Jesus offers a new community, a set of social relationships and economic practices. “For God all things are possible” – pray and reflect on the call of Jesus to transformation in our country and our world where millions lack what they need to live with dignity.
