Transfiguration of the Lord (F)

Daniel 7:9-10,13-14; Psalm 97; 2 Peter 1:16-19; Matthew 17:1-9

Listen to him

Jesus had talked about his death-resurrection and about disciples taking up their crosses. Later, in a remote place on a mountain, and privately, to a small group of disciples, he is transfigured and changed in a visible way. Clouds denote the hidden presence of God who encourages: “listen to him”. What mountain do I need to climb to discover Jesus anew? As disciples we journey with other disciples. Am I part of a small group? When has your group experienced Jesus saying, “Get up and do not be afraid”?
