Jeremiah 26:1-9; Psalm 69; Matthew 13:54-58

Too quick to judge?

We know the expression, “Familiarity breeds contempt”. Jesus found a fair taste of this, when coming to his home town. “This is the carpenter’s son surely”? In other words, “Who does he think he is? His family’s no-one outstanding, we know them”. It made me think of how quickly I can judge others – “I know what he is going to say”! Or, “she’s always like that …” I might need to practice listening! I might want to reflect on what she said, looking for insight! I might also want to thank God for the gift of this person – “thank you, God, for him or her”!
