Mary and the empty tomb

In our first reading today from the Song of Songs, an Old Testament love story, the bride searches for the one she loves. “Have you seen him”? she cries in desperation. Mary, a very close friend of Jesus, calls out the same question when she finds the tomb empty. “Where is he”? She does not recognise Jesus, looking like a gardener. “Mary”! Jesus speaks her name. How often does Jesus speak to me in the unexpected person, the one I don’t recognise or even know?
