What is my gift of penance today?

Many of us will remember ‘No meat on Fridays’. Friday still remains a day of penance, but the form of that penance is left to us to decide. It is easy not to remember that! Hosea today speaks again of God’s love and care for us – “Look, I will love them with all my heart”. How do I repay that love? I might go without something; or I might go out of my way to do something extra for someone; or I might just spend a little time prayerfully thanking God for his abundant love for me.
