Hosea 10:1, 3-4, 8-9; Psalm 105; Matthew 10:1-7

Hello to you

Today’s Gospel extract has Jesus choosing and sending out his twelve Apostles. He tells them to go to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. In other words, stay in the local area, among the people you pass by as you walk about. Perhaps that’s our ‘mission field’ also – the folk we mix with, stand in queues with, smile at as we pass. The smile, the cheery “Good morning”, a sincere “thank you” at the check-out, can be our gentle way of lifting the spirits of someone – proclaiming the kingdom of love.
