The goodness of the Lord

“Taking up our cross” can seem like something frightening or very difficult. Jesus reminds us that it can be as simple as giving a cup of water to a disciple or “welcoming a holy man because he is a holy man”. That is what the woman who welcomed Elisha did – and she was rewarded with her heart’s desire, a child. The Lord knows what we need and desire – do I strive to know what God wants of me?
