BIRTH OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST (S)

God is gracious

Elizabeth and Zechariah were blessed with a son, given a name by God, John, which means ‘God is gracious’. Each one of us, like John, is a gracious gift from God to the world, not just to our family. Each of us is invited by God to “carry out my whole purpose”. How do I respond to that calling? Do I praise and thank God because “I am wonderfully made”? Do I try my best to help God’s “salvation reach to the ends of the earth”?
