… to succeed you

I know many older people who have faithfully served their parish community since their young days. They now feel much like Elijah – the only one left doing what they were called to do and perhaps not appreciated for doing it. Trying to discern the presence of God and his direction when all around is ‘wind, earthquake and fire’, can be disheartening. Patience will bring the gentle breeze when we can hear the voice of God and this will lead us to know the future direction we should follow. God will determine who future leaders are to be, even if we are not the ones to appoint them.
