St Marcellin Champagnat (M)

2 Timothy 4:1-8; Ps.70; Mark 12:38-44

Proclaim the Message

Paul’s instruction to Timothy today could easily have been the inspiration for Marcellin Champagnat: “do all with patience and the intention of teaching”. The Marist teaching Brothers (FMS) founded by Marcellin have had a big impact on education in many countries, including New Zealand and Australia. The gospel today also reminds us that Jesus spent much of his time teaching – sometimes to the huge crowds and, at others, specifically for his disciples. If I want others to learn from what I say and do, then I need to continue learning from Jesus.
