2 Timothy 1:1-3, 6-12; Ps.122; Mark 12:18-27

A clear conscience

Like Paul encouraging Timothy, Charles Lwanga encouraged the young court pages in Uganda, where he was in the king’s service. He and thirty-nine others were martyred for encouraging them in their Christian faith and resisting the immoral demands of the king. We are also called to be courageous in speaking out about immoral practices (abortion, euthanasia etc.), even when proposed by our lawful government. Like Paul, I need to “keep my conscience clear”.
