Being there
The ‘three Marys’, along with the disciple John, stood at the foot of the cross. We often hear people say they are reluctant to visit the recently bereaved or the terminally ill, because they “don’t know what to say”. As in so many areas of life, we can follow the example of Mary. She was just ‘being there’ – no need to say anything. When you are lonely, scared, depressed, suffering in any way, having someone else just there with you makes a big difference. Who can I ‘be with’ today, this week?
