Leaving the room
How do we get out of the ‘room’ of our fears, of our tiredness, of our disillusionment, of our pain? In a sense, that ‘room’ can be like the room the disciples were in at Pentecost – something that holds us in because we are scared of what might be waiting for us if we leave it. And so, the greeting that Jesus gives to his disciples is the same one he gives to us: “Peace be with you”. And we become free in the same way that they did – by realising that it is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to use the gifts and talents God has given each of us.
