The snare of jealousy
Jealousy is a very insidious evil. Often it masquerades as ‘well-intentioned’ but its motive is always to protect ‘our’ position and to defend ourselves against anything and anyone who would put forward a view that we don’t like or that doesn’t suit us – especially when that view seems to have popular acceptance and challenges our status or standing within the community. When we find ourselves reacting strongly against something or someone, it is always wise to stop and consider what our motives are – are we acting from a position of integrity or of from one of self-interest?
