Doubts

The slowness of the disciples to believe in the stories of Jesus appearances is quite understandable. After all, they did not want to be let down again. Good Friday was still a raw memory. Yet their obstinacy and slowness to believe is itself a help to our faith. They did not jump uncritically to the conclusion that he was truly risen: such a conviction took hold of them despite their strong misgivings and caused them to come to a faith that is deeper and stronger.
