“I am”

They picked up stones to throw at him. Here we have a clear picture of the confrontation between light and darkness, love and hate, God and sin. Jesus is presented as the fulfilment of Abraham’s hope and as divine. We ask for deeper faith to know him more clearly, love him more dearly and follow him more nearly. We welcome this clear affirmation of who Jesus really is.
