Mary’s Fiat – may it be done

Today we celebrate Mary’s response to the news brought to her by the angel that Mary was to become the mother of God. “I am the handmaid of the Lord, let what you have said be done to me”. Mary’s fiat has echoed through the ages. Through her ‘yes’ Jesus Christ came into our world and lived among us. May we, like Mary, have an openness of heart and mind and a courage to say ‘Yes’ to God and to life. Here I am Lord; I come to do your will.
