Matthew 5:38-48

Love your enemies; pray for those who persecute you. Probably the most difficult of Jesus’ instructions, yet crucial to his message of mercy and forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer makes this conditional on our being forgiven: Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us!

With Ash Wednesday just three day away, praying the Lord’s Prayer slowly and thoughtfully is an ideal preparation for Lent and its challenge.
