James 1:19-27; Psalm 15:2-5; Mark 8:22-26

The blind person in today’s gospel is cured in three stages involving three touches by Jesus. From a desire to see, there comes a “beginning to see” and then “he saw clearly”. One commentator suggests these reflect the repeated efforts by Jesus to help the disciples see clearly the teaching of Jesus – leading to the three Passion prophecies that are given in the next section of chapter eight in Mark.

Pray today: Bless and help me, Lord, that I might see.
