Understanding!

Give your servant a heart that understands”. Solomon’s request is granted because he didn’t ask God for personal riches or honour. He wanted to serve his people wisely and justly. The reaction of the people to what the Apostles “had done and taught” shows that those people felt cared for. It’s often easier to seek only what will benefit myself.

Prayer: Compassionate God, plant in me a heart that understands, so that I might serve gently and tenderly, courteously and generously, unconcerned for my own comfort.
