What relatives?

Our number one relationship in life is with God. In this gospel scene, Jesus praises Mary who is standing outside the house with other family members. He declares that his close relatives are all who listen to God’s word and do God’s will. At times those who choose to follow Jesus are rejected by their own blood relations. Many families have members who are of different Christian churches or even of different faiths. Doing the will of the Father – that is the measure for Jesus to call me his sister or brother.
