Catch him out

The atmosphere in the synagogue is tense; a man with a disabled hand, some Pharisees and Jesus. Jesus initiates the confrontation and is both grieved and angry at the refusal to answer his question. The answer would convict them, so they remain silent. It is hard to deal with no answer. At least when something is verbalised and ‘out there’ it can be dealt with. A response shows where I stand, my thoughts. There are times when silence is not helpful. Let us ask God for the wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent.
