What authority?

Jewish leaders contest the authority Jesus has out of fear that they might lose their influence over the people. Jesus knows who he is and what the Father has given him to do; he comes across as totally authentic. His actions match his words. And the people acknowledge his authority. In today’s world, as in the time of Jesus, there are numerous forces that claim authority over people’s lives. Let us pray for the grace to “know ourselves” and be clear about our mission in life that our actions will match our words.
