THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD (F)

Anniversary of Bishop Pompallier’s first Mass in Aotearoa New Zealand

Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7; Psalm 29:1-4, 9-10; Acts 10:34-38; Matthew 3:13-17

Let it be

This is such a joyful feast. Isaiah speaks of God’s chosen one whose mission is to bring true justice and be a light for others. When Jesus is baptised by John and anointed with the Spirit, the Father calls him his Beloved Son. Perhaps today is a good time to reflect on how I am living out my baptism: rejecting those things that draw me away from loving God, myself and others... How much have I grown in entrusting myself to a God who delights in me and commissions me to witness to Jesus?
