Jesus’s rise in popularity is seen as a threat by the followers of John the Baptist. Yet the prophet himself feels joy. John understands his true role and is able to see beyond, even if his disciples are disappointed... As a missionary, I have felt sadness in leaving a place where smsm sisters have worked for years, but there is joy in handing over for others to carry on. There are many changes going on in today’s church. We need the help of the Spirit to continue to listen carefully for the bridegroom’s voice among the many voices.
