God provides – through us

Jesus plans a quiet time of retreat – for himself, recovering from the news of John’s death, and for the disciples, returning enthusiastic yet tired from their first mission. But people hinder this idea when they guess where he is going. Jesus feels for the crowd, and, after lengthy teaching, challenges the disciples to respond to the need of the people. How often our good plans seem to be thwarted! It’s frustrating, but it happened to Jesus too. Who might need my compassionate response today?
