Look! The Lamb

Lambs were among the animals that Jews were permitted to sacrifice to God as sin offerings. Before communion when the host is held up, we hear the words: “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” In the Mass we implore the Lamb of God for mercy and peace. One wonders what was in John the Baptist’s mind when he saw Jesus approaching and called him the “Lamb of God”. Do I have a significant title for Jesus?
