1 John 2:22-28; Ps 98:1-4, John 1:19-28

What’s your ID?

Today we hear the voices of strong speakers. John, in his first letter, warns about being led astray for “you are anointed with truth, not a lie”. John the Baptist, the last of the great prophets, causes a stir. He is very clear about his role in life. The saints whose feastday is today were both also great with words in defence of the faith: Gregory of Nazianzen as an orator, and Basil with his writings. We Christians today are also being asked: Who are you? What’s your identity? We need an answer.
