Caring for the Vulnerable

Jesus tells his disciples that whatever we do to a child is done to him! How many times as parents, teachers or caregivers have we cared for a child without adverting to these consoling words of Jesus? Mother Aubert told her Sisters who looked after babies in orphanages, to treat each child as if he or she were the infant Jesus! Zechariah, in the name of God, speaks of old people with love and respect. We allow our God to live and love through us when we treat the vulnerable in our society with kindness and respect. Are we sensitive enough to their needs? Specifically, what concrete action can we undertake here and now to help those who cannot help themselves?
