Exposing our holy veneer

This parable strips off our veneer of holiness, exposing our hidden jealousy and anger that God would flout our internalised justice. God’s radical mercy shocks us. Something screams at the idea that God is in total control and astonishingly chooses to give salvation, forgiveness and life to others in equal measure. We instinctively measure rewards commensurate with effort. God deals with each one personally and gives generously according to need and our willingness to respond. We hide our jealous nature even from ourselves. We genuinely want those others to receive the fullness of God, just not in the same measure as us! Tell God if this parable disturbs you.
