Prophets cause discomfort

Why are prophets so uncomfortable to be around? They don’t follow the norms of political correctness and they speak inconvenient truths most of us are trying not to think about. People became upset at Jeremiah’s tales of destruction and threw him down a well to die. What voices deeply challenge you to change? How do you respond? Has standing up for Truth left you ostracised, crying to God, faithful yet confused? Jeremiah is helped not by religious leaders but by a court official. God’s help can arrive in surprising guise. How has God surprised you?
