The store of goodness

The readings today remind us that what is inside us will show itself by what we say and do. Most of us are a mixed bag, with goodness and sinfulness mixed together. Growth in holiness means accepting this reality about who we are and calling on the grace of God to heal and strengthen us. It can lead, over time, to the habit of drawing more and more from the store of goodness which dwells in our hearts. It can also mean we encourage goodness in the lives of others and not become jealous of their good deeds.
