Knowing What’s Important

The story of the Good Samaritan is one of the most loved in the Gospels. And as with all good stories, there are gems hidden in the details. The Samaritan not only looks after the injured traveller when others - who should have - wouldn’t; he not only takes him to safety at the inn and pays for his care, but he promises to return and cover the cost of any other needs. There is a real and on-going commitment to the injured traveller. This reminds us that the focus of our help and support is to be not on the good deeds we do but on the people we do them for.
