Exhaltation of the Cross

Numbers 21:4-9; Psalm 78; Philippians 2:6-11; John 3:13-17

No holding back

The crucifixion is the ultimate expression of loving sacrifice. Christ’s goal was to do the Father’s will, to make the world holy through his sacrificial love. Today’s feast has a very challenging aspect. At Baptism we are sealed with the Sign of the Cross, signifying that we belong to Christ. How much of the totality of my person have I given to God? What am I holding back on the pathway to holiness? Am I being honest with God, with myself? After all, Christ gave everything on the Cross.
