Generous mercy

Even a great saint would be the first to say that God is a God of surprises and that we can never say that we know all there is to know about God. What our Gospel wants to make sure that we know about God is that God is more generous with mercy than we can ever imagine. The problem can be that our motives for showing generosity to our neighbour can be mixed so we think God’s motives are mixed also. What can we do? The motto of the Society of Mary can help clarify our motives: ‘For the Greater Glory of God and the Honour of the Mother of God.’
