Main terms and fine print

Entering into a consumer contract we are inclined to focus on the main terms (product, price, payments etc.), and ignore the fine print, sometimes to our detriment. In our ‘contract,’ our covenant, with God, we tend to do the opposite; namely, to focus on the ‘fine print’ while losing sight of the ‘main terms.’ That’s what the Pharisees did. Yes, the fine print – all the rules and regulations of our Christian doctrine – are necessary and important, but we must maintain our focus on the ‘main terms’ of our covenant with God, which are: 1. Love. 2. Love. 3. Love.
