Being reconciled

Conflict is a common part of our human relationships. Jesus teaches that conflict is not resolved by exacting justice. An eye for an eye does not produce a peaceful outcome. Rather, reconciliation is achieved by a willingness to engage in conversation and in bringing to that conversation a forgiving heart. Only when we are reconciled with our brother or sister can we go to the altar and participate in the celebration of Eucharist. Lord, create in me a heart that forgives.
