The fullness of love

Jesus used common objects and situations as metaphors for eternal truth. It was his way of helping people understand the love of God beyond all description. Often he chose images of small things: sparrows, hairs on our head, lilies, a coin, a lamp, a cup. Why small? I can think of two reasons: nothing is too small for God’s love, and it is only when we know our own smallness that we experience the fullness of that love.
