Handed over to the world

The soul flees the world; the soul returns to the world. The soul is directed to flee the world as it turns away from sin, unhelpful practices, and interests. The Christ of Holy Saturday in this first movement descends into the soul, remaking it. Once Christ’s descent is completed, the soul is directed to return to the world. In this second movement, the soul participates in Christ’s ministry. The soul is handed over to the world to show the world a greater love (John 15:13). The disciple in her everyday encounters will make up for what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ (Col 1:24).
