Ezekiel 34:1-11; Ps 23; Matthew 20:1-16

Look after my flock

The Lord says I am going to keep all of my flock in view (Ezekiel 34:11). This is followed by the ‘Shepherd Psalm’ (23) which reminds us that the Good Shepherd ensures repose, leads and revives; that He guides and comforts each sheep. The familiar phrases of this beautiful Psalm can well be read and prayed in the plural: “you have prepared a banquet for us … In the Lord’s own house shall we dwell for ever and ever.” And applying it to this day’s Gospel passage – why be envious because the Shepherd is generous?
