Only in you

We have a deep longing for God. Only in solitary contemplation will we discover both who we are and who God is. The Hound of Heaven poem introduced as College retreat material fascinated me. Later I read that it led Dorothy Day to Catholicism. She said after hearing it, ‘inevitably I would have to pause in the mad rush of living to remember my first beginning and last end.’ It also resulted in the conversion of the writer of the poem, Francis Thompson, who was a drug addict. Sit and let the God find you.
