Choosing what is life-giving

The Jews in Antioch react against the teaching of Paul and Barnabas not because of concerns about whether or not it is right but out of jealousy. At times jealousy can get the better of us, too. We react against someone because we feel that they are getting more attention than we are or perhaps because they seem to have more influence than we do. Such an approach closes us in on ourselves and is not life-giving. Am I motivated by jealousy at times? Is there someone I need to look at with fresh eyes and openness?
