Living without prejudice

In the first reading, the rulers, elders and scribes are trying to find a way to protect their position and status. They recognise that a miracle has been worked through Peter and John but they don’t want to acknowledge it because the two disciples don’t fit their expectations of leaders or ‘holy men.’ We, too, have to be careful we don’t view people and events through our own prejudices – God can and does work through the unexpected and the unlikely in our world.
