Second Sunday of Lent

Genesis 15:5-12,17-18, Philippians 3:17-4:1, Ps.27, Luke 9:28-36

Listen to Him

Two mountains are juxtaposed today. Just as Moses had gone up a mountain to receive the commandments of the Old Covenant. Jesus ascended a mountain where God gives us the commandment of the New Covenant:

“This is my Son, the Chosen One. Listen to him.”

Jesus is, himself, the full and final revelation of God’s purpose. The New Covenant’s commandment is to “Listen to Jesus.” He, and only he, is “the Way, the Truth and the Life.”
